RE: Taxes, Taxes, Taxes
Nice follow up question Milena.
Yes you are correct. This year you are only filing for the 2009 expenses. This time next year you will have to file for the 2010 expenses which will include March-May stipends, domestic airfare/travel, and PDF. These forms will be sent to your home country this time next year.
luggage(books)?

During program we generated a heavy luggage (most of them books of course), and main worry for Uzbeks is to fly via Almaty. From Almaty to Tashkent any luggage over 23kg will required much expensive overpayment (which could be avoided if we would fly directly to Washington-Frankfurt-Tashkent). Is there any way to work out with this problem?
thank you
re: luggage (books)
Our office in Almaty noted these concerns last year, and we investigated flight options for the Uzbekistan group with our travel agency in Frankfurt. Based on available air carriers that we could book, it was not possible to arrange the trip directly from/to Tashkent. I think we already informed you about it, though.
On the way home, these are the bag fees that EVERYONE can expect if two bags (at 23 kg each) are checked into the flight cargo:
**Host city to Washington**
1. first checked bag fee (23 kg) (about $15-25)
2. second checked bag fee (23 kg) (about $25-35)
**Washington to capital city near your hometown**
1. second checked bag fee (23 kg) (about $50) – Keep in mind that the first checked bag (at 23 kg) on international flights is FREE.
These fees that are listed above will be covered by the additional $200 departure allowance that everyone will receive in their May stipend check.
There are very few of you, but for anyone who must travel beyond the capital city near their hometown, if there are any baggage fees then the American Councils office in the country where you land will pay you for these fees before you take the last leg of travel (in your case, for your Almaty-Tashkent flight).
SSN

Hello, last week or may be more I sent Annah my SSN. I suppose she received it. I didn't get any confirmation of it. Thank you.
